Practice Emphasis
Robert J. Britz engages in the general practice of law with an emphasis in municipal and local government law, as well as real estate, estate planning, probate, and business matters.

Mr. Britz thoroughly enjoys the challenge and diversity of legal practice, an attitude that is the foundation for his meticulous and responsive approach to client service. Mr. Britz highly values accessibility and promptly responds to client phone calls and emails. He keeps current on changes and new developments in his areas of expertise, and his knowledge and effectiveness make him a strong client advocate when negotiating with opposing counsel.
Publications and Presentations
Mr. Britz has authored numerous articles for the Elburn Herald on topics of general legal interest. He has lectured before the Northern Illinois Alliance of Fire Protection Districts, the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts, and the Kane County Bar Association. He has taught real estate and business law at Waubonsee Community College.
Community Service Activities
Mr. Britz is a former member of the Kaneland School District Board of Education, the Region Two Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, and the Board of Kane-Kendall Case Coordination Services for the disabled. He is active in his church as past Pastoral Council president and past Building Committee co-chair of St. Gall’s Catholic Church, as well as past Finance Council member of the Rockford Catholic Diocese. Mr. Britz has coached Elburn Baseball, Elburn Basketball, and Elburn Soccer, and is a past officer of the Elburn Sesquicentennial Committee.
Professional Background
Before entering college, Mr. Britz served three years with the U.S. Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in Vietnam as platoon commander. He entered the practice of law in 1978, working with John L. Nickels. When Mr. Nickels became an Illinois circuit court judge in 1982, and later an Illinois Supreme Court judge, Mr. Britz established his own practice in Elburn. Mr. Britz holds the highest peer review rating, “AV,” from Lexis-Nexis Martindale-Hubbell, a nationwide legal directory.
