William R. Thomas practices in the general areas of law including real estate, family law, criminal and juvenile matters, eminent domain, wills and estates, local government law, and civil litigation.

 

In his general practice, Mr. Thomas provides solid legal advice addressing the concerns of his clients. Mr. Thomas represents clients in both residential and commercial real estate transactions throughout northern Illinois. In his eminent domain practice, Mr. Thomas represents both the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago for the expansion of public highways and in the future expansion of O’Hare International Airport.

 

With seventeen years of experience encompassing all aspects of a general law practice, Mr. Thomas utilizes his knowledge and experience to advise his clients on achieving practical and efficient results. With a practice that encompasses all of northern Illinois, Mr. Thomas highly values communication with his clients during legal proceedings so they are fully aware of their legal rights and options.

 

Mr. Thomas was an Assistant State’s Attorney and Public Defender for Shelby County, Illinois. He has submitted briefs to the First, Second and Fourth Appellate Courts in the State of Illinois arguing before the Fourth Appellate District, Mount Vernon, Illinois. In 2000, Mr. Thomas became associated with the law office of Robert J. Schillerstrom, Ltd. in Naperville. In 2005, after Mr. Schillerstrom’s office closed, Mr. Thomas opened his own firm retaining nearly all of Mr. Schillerstrom’s clients. Since 2000, Mr. Thomas has represented the Illinois Department of Transportation as a Special Assistant Attorney General in condemnation matters. Since 2005, he has served the City of Chicago as a Special Assistant Corporation Counsel in the condemnation and acquisition of property associated with the O’Hare Modernization Program.
